The Burnaby Pride Community Picnic is set to kick off the Pride season here in Burnaby with a vibrant and welcoming celebration for 2SLGBTQIA+ families and individuals. Join us on Saturday, July 6, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Maywood Park for an afternoon of joy, connection, and inclusivity. This free event offers a unique opportunity to gather, share experiences, and celebrate the diversity that makes our community so special.
One of the highlights of the picnic will be the delicious food provided by the Burnaby Neighbourhood House. Attendees can look forward to a mouth-watering selection of hot dogs, including meat, veggie, and Halal options. Refresh yourself with pop and chips available for a suggested donation of $3-5, with further donations warmly welcomed to support the community efforts.

Entertainment will be plentiful, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. The Dimes will transport you through the decades with their spectacular performances of hits from the 50s to the 2000s. Their lively costumes and choreography will have everyone dancing to the timeless tunes of ABBA, The Supremes, Cher, Madonna, and more. For a touch of magic, Mina Chan will enchant the crowd with her fairy tale-inspired music, bringing imagination to life through her piano and vocals. Tomaio will add a heartfelt touch with their covers and original songs that reflect their queer Filipinx experiences.
Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets to enjoy the afternoon in comfort. Stay hydrated with water as we celebrate under the open skies. This event is designed to create meaningful connections and foster a deep sense of unity within our vibrant community. By coming together, we can celebrate our shared identities and the unique stories that make up the rich tapestry of Burnaby’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
