Pride Picnic

We’re kicking off Pride season in Burnaby with something special — the Burnaby Pride Community Picnic! Happening on Saturday, July 5th from 11:30 am to 2:30 p.m. at Maywood Park, this free, family-friendly event invites 2SLGBTQIA+ folks and allies to come together for an afternoon of celebration, community, and connection.

You can look forward to a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere filled with good food, great company, and amazing entertainment. Thanks to the Burnaby Neighbourhood House, we’ll be serving up hot dogs with meat, veggie, and Halal options, plus chips and pop by donation ($3–5 suggested). All proceeds go toward supporting community programs, so every bite makes a difference!

Live performances will keep the vibes high all afternoon. Pack your picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and water bottles, and settle in for a beautiful day under the sun—plus, enjoy free face painting for all ages to add a splash of colour to the celebration!

Everyone is welcome — no barriers, no pressure, just pure Pride. So mark your calendars for July 5, and we’ll see you at Maywood Park!

• Location: Maywood Park is a Burnaby public park. The address is: 6480 McKay Ave, Burnaby, BC V5H 2J6 BC. The park features a playground and small shaded area, and we will also be providing some small tents for more shade. Enter on McKay Ave for easiest access to the BBQ site.
• Food: Food is available by donation. We will have hot dogs, with veggie and Halal options as well as gluten-free buns, chips, and iced tea. We encourage folks to also bring their own food as we may run out throughout the day.

  • Trip planning
• Parking: Parking is extremely limited, so we encourage you to carpool or take transit if possible. There is limited parking available on McKay Avenue and Silver Avenue on either side of the park.
• Washrooms: There will be two portable washrooms on-site, one of which will be an accessible washroom. These washrooms will not be gendered.
• Event/Area: The event will be held outdoors, rain or shine, with some shade/cover under the trees. There will be a few pop-up tents for shade.
• Seating Options: Seating is limited (a few picnic tables and benches are available in the park). Please bring your own chairs, picnic blankets, or cushions.
• Speakers/Performers: Microphones and amplification will be used.
• Terrain: The terrain is mostly level but can be uneven with a mixture of grass and dirt areas. There is a small children’s park which contains wood chips. A long paved path runs through the park from one end to the other. There is a large amount of trees and foliage that may make the terrain uneven.
• Fragrance-Reduced: Burnaby Pride acknowledges community members experiencing chemical sensitivities. For the health and safety of volunteers, performers, and guests, it is important that everyone come fragrance-free or reduced to this event.
