We recognize that this acknowledgement is a tiny piece in the larger context of the ongoing work that must be done to challenge the legacies of colonialism and create palpable disruptive change and true reconciliation. \n\n\n\nACCESSIBILITY INFO\n** Location: \n\n\n\nBonsor Field is a public park with a gravel and grass field. The address is: Bonsor Field 6550 Bonsor Ave\, Burnaby\, BC\, Canada \n\n\n\nThe event will include a large stage with amplification\, multiple community booths\, and food trucks. We will have lawn games\, performances\, an accessible shaded area\, cool down and low sensory areas\, and an EMF-Reduced zone. There will be portable washrooms on site all non-gendered and there will be accessible washrooms available. \n\n\n\nEnter through the path on Central Boulevard for accessible access to the festival site. There is limited parking on site so we encourage folks to take transit or carpool when possible \n\n\n\n** ASL Interpretation: \n\n\n\nASL interpreters will be available at the stage area of the park. \n\n\n\n** Transit: \n\n\n\nMetrotown Skytrain station (10 minute walk 800 Meters) \n\n\n\nBus 110 SB Bonsor Ave @ Bennett St (2 minute walk 160 Meters ) https://tripplanning.translink.ca/#/app/tripplanning/itineraries////49.2241922/-122.9964086/Bonsor%20Recreation%20Complex\,%20Bonsor%20Avenue\,%20Burnaby\,%20BC\,%20Canada//SORTTRIP/////////  \n\n\n\n** Parking: \n\n\n\nParking is limited so we encourage you to carpool or take transit if possible.  \n\n\n\nThere is limited parking available at the site  \n\n\n\n** Washrooms: \n\n\n\nThere will be portable washrooms on site some of which will be accessible washrooms. These washrooms will not be gendered.  \n\n\n\n** Event/Area: \n\n\n\nOutdoor RAIN/SHINE with some shade/cover under some of the tents for shade.  \n\n\n\n** Seating Options: \n\n\n\nSeating is limited (picnic tables are going to be available at the park)\, please bring your own chairs/picnic blankets\, or cushions. \n\n\n\n** Speakers/Performers: \n\n\n\nMicrophones and amplification will be used. \n\n\n\n** Terrain: \n\n\n\nThe terrain is uneven with a mixture of grass and packed gravel. The majority of the festival will take place on the packed gravel/dirt field. There are various paths that lead onto that field down a slight decline. \n\n\n\n** Fragrance-Reduced: \n\n\n\nBurnaby Pride acknowledges community members experiencing chemical sensitivities. \n\n\n\nFor the health and safety of volunteers\, performers\, and guests it is important that everyone come fragrance-free or reduced to this event. We will have a section of the festival as a dedicated EMF-Reduced space. Only enter or sit in this area with electronic devices powered down please! \n\n\n\n** COVID 19 Aware: \n\n\n\nThe safety and well-being of our community is important for us. Burnaby Pride follows the recommendations of the Fraser Health Authority. Our pride celebration is outdoors in a park. Mask wearing is optional\, but encouraged in group settings. As always if you feel at all like you may be sick or are showing symptoms of any possibly contagious illness please stay home. All skill levels welcome. \nJoin Lindz Marsh (she/her)\, Burnaby Lake Park Association Board Director\, and another local birder as they share their knowledge and passion for birds while we wander through Burnaby Lake trails\, culminating at Piper Spit.\nConnect with nature and celebrate the diversity of bird life at Burnaby Lake Regional Park. We’ll listen for beautiful bird song\, spot birds large and small\, and enjoy talking about bird habitat and plumage. Summer is a great time to see both seasonal visitors such as Sandhill Cranes and local year-round species such as Spotted Towhees and Wood Ducks. \nIf possible\, bring a pair of binoculars that will allow you to identify and enjoy distant birds easily.\nWe warmly welcome 2SLGBTQIA+ members\, particularly members of the BIPOC community.
